A Trinity Shamrock for a St. X Tiger? Desmond Ridder, Rondale Moore swapped in NFL trade
In what likely was an NFL first, a former Trinity High School Shamrock was traded for a former St. Xavier High School Tiger on Thursday.
According to multiple reports, the Atlanta Falcons traded quarterback Desmond Ridder to the Arizona Cardinals for wide receiver Rondale Moore.
Ridder is a 2017 St. X grad who went on to play in college at Cincinnati, leading the Bearcats into the College Football Playoff in 2021.
Ridder was a third-round draft pick by Atlanta in 2022. He started 17 games in two seasons with the Falcons, including 13 last season. He passed for 2,836 yards and 12 touchdowns with 12 interceptions as the Falcons finished 7-10.
Moore is a 2018 Trinity product who played three seasons at Purdue before being drafted by Arizona in the second round of the 2021 draft.
In three seasons with Arizona, Moore caught 121 passes for 1,068 yards and three touchdowns. He also rushed for 227 yards and a score.
Ridder and Moore met once in high school during the 2016 season, with Moore’s Shamrocks winning 24-14 in the semifinals of the Class 6A playoffs. Trinity went on to win the Class 6A title to finish a 15-0 season.
