Trayce Jackson-Davis used Blake Griffin footage to prepare for Giannis
Trayce Jackson-Davis had an immense game for the Golden State Warriors as they defeated the Milwaukee Bucks on Wednesday (March 6). The rookie big man ended the night with 15 points, 6 rebounds, 4 blocks, and a steal. That level of production earned Jackson-Davis significant praise from his teammates and coaching staff after the game.
During his own media availability, Jackson-Davis revealed that he prepared for the matchup against Giannis Antetokounmpo by watching footage of Blake Griffin. He noted how the veteran big man has fared well against Giannis in the past, so he tried to learn from the available footage.
“I’ve never faced anyone like him before,” Jackson-Davis said. “Having length like that. As fast as he is. Explosive. The person that I’ve watched guard him in the past, who has done a pretty successful job, is Blake Griffin. Just sitting back and kind of allowing him to come to you. And then watching that spin move that he likes to do…I’ve watched it a few times.”
Davis recorded multiple blocks on Giannis during the game. He also did a solid job of containing the former MVP when matched up against him. Jackson-Davis has enjoyed a strong rookie season with the Warriors. However, his performance against the Bucks was certainly one of his better outings.
