Every weekday afternoon throughout January, FC Yahoo will weed through the topsy-turvy world of transfer gossip and bring you a roundup of the top rumors of the past 24 hours. But first, a note on what the roundup will entail. Because it won’t just be pure aggregation.

Not all transfer rumors are created equal. Some deserve your attention. Some don’t. So every roundup will be divided into four sections.

First, there are the reports – news on a player and clubs, usually from reputable sources, that appear to be substantive. They often include specific information, like a timetable, a potential transfer fee, a meeting location, a negotiation obstacle, or other details.

Second, there is chatter – details regarding previously reported or rumored negotiations that are interesting, but don’t include concrete suggestions that a deal could be near.

Third, there are the rumors – the links between player and club(s) that are probably just speculative and unfounded. They’re usually from tabloids that have a long history of, for lack of a better phrase, spewing BS. So you probably should ignore them. But just in case you want to indulge, we’ll have you covered.

And finally, at the bottom of every roundup will be a running list of the done deals that have caught our attention – the ones officially announced by clubs.

THURSDAY’S DEALS

Arsenal announced the signing of Greek defender Konstantinos Mavropanos from Greek club PAS Giannina, reportedly for €2 million. Arsene Wenger has said the 20-year-old will immediately go out on loan, reportedly to Bundesliga side Werder Bremen.

REPORTS

Cenk Tosun | Besiktas —> Everton — It’s happening! Besiktas and Everton have reportedly agreed to a £27 million fee. Managers of both clubs have confirmed the deal. Tosun was reportedly on Merseyside Thursday for a medical.

Besiktas appears to have squeezed a few million pounds extra out of the Toffees after initial reports suggested the price had been set at £25 million. But Everton has plenty of money to spend, and it now has its man. Tosun should slot into the team immediately upon his arrival. There are legitimate questions about how his Turkish Super Lig exploits will translate to the Premier League, but if they translate well, the 26-year-old could be precisely what Everton needs.

Alexis Sanchez | Arsenal —> Manchester City — Four days into January, we have our first major flurry of Alexis Sanchez reports. British tabloids suggest Arsenal is coming around on the idea of selling its star forward in January, with £25 million as the target. Both the Manchester Evening News and Spanish outlet Marca are reporting that Manchester City is coming around on the idea of buying Sanchez in January. The Daily Mail says City is willing to pay the £25 million, and could be willing to pay as much as £35 million.

Marca‘s story included a note that there already an agreement between Sanchez and City manager Pep Guardiola for the Chilean to join on a free in the summer. But the Gabriel Jesus injury has reportedly prompted City to consider opening up its checkbook to get Sanchez for an extra half-season.

Yerry Mina | Palmeiras —> Barcelona — The Colombian center back is likely set for a move to Barcelona over the summer at the latest. But recent reports out of both South America and Europe suggest the Catalan club is closing in on a deal to bring the 23-year-old to Camp Nou in January. Barca has reportedly bid €15 million, and Mina reportedly could arrive as early as next week. Former Colombian international Faustino Asprilla seemed to confirm the deal on Twitter:

Kepa Arrizabalaga | Athletic Bilbao —> Real Madrid — Arrizabalaga is going to be a Madrid player, it’s just a matter of when. The latest report, from Spanish outlet AS, backs that up. AS claims the 23-year-old goalkeeper has already signed a contract with Real. That doesn’t exactly sound legal, but nonetheless, AS claims the contract has two potential start dates, January 2018 or June 2018. Arrizabalaga’s current deal at Bilbao expires in June. Madrid must decide whether to pay his €20 million release clause, or wait to sign him on a free. The latter option makes much more sense for Madrid, but Arrizabalaga reportedly prefers the former.

CHATTER

The latest on Philippe Coutinho — A January move appears to be picking up steam. Goal‘s Melissa Reddy clarified that both Coutinho and Barcelona are pushing for a deal that would see Coutinho move to Spain now, rather than in the summer. Reddy also confirmed earlier reports that Barcelona’s latest offer will be €110 million plus €40 million in add-ons.

There has been separate speculation, spurred by the Spanish press, that Barcelona’s lucrative contract offer to Coutinho could be difficult to fit within the framework of Financial Fair Play. But that’s another investigation for another day.

Manchester United contract extensionsUnited has picked up team options on Juan Mata, Ashley Young, Ander Herrera and Daley Blind. Their contracts were set to expire in June 2018. They’ll now expire in June 2019, giving United an extra year to negotiate either another extension or a sale.

Luke Shaw, and United’s pursuit of left backs — There is no news yet, however, on Luke Shaw, who has a similar team option. The Manchester Evening News reported that Shaw’s recent performances have the club considering delaying its pursuit of a left back until the summer. But other tabloid reports suggested Jose Mourinho was pushing club executives to bid for Tottenham’s Danny Rose.

Harry Kane contract rumors — Kane isn’t going anywhere in January, and there are no indications he’ll leave in the summer, despite constant links to Real Madrid. But if he is to stay, Spurs will have to pay up. The Daily Mail reported that Tottenham is considering breaking from their notorious frugality to hand Kane a massive contract that would make him the highest-paid Englishman in the Premier League.

Jack Wilshere contract talks — Wilshere’s deal expires this summer. He told Sky Sports after Wednesday’s 2-2 draw with Chelsea that there has been “no progress” in contract negotiations between his camp and Arsenal. However, barring injury, surely there will be soon.

James Tarkowski extension — Tarkowski has been one of the breakout players of the first half of the Premier League season. His current deal with Burnley was set to expire at season’s end. That prompted talk of a move up the ladder. But on Thursday, Tarkowski re-upped with Burnley through 2022.

RUMORS

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang | Borussia Dortmund —> Arsenal — Reports out of Italy suggest Aubameyang is at the top of Arsenal’s list of potential Sanchez replacements.

Jonny Evans | West Brom —> Manchester City
Iñigo Martinez | Real Sociedad —> Manchester City — City is in the market for a back-up center back, and, according to Sky Sports, Martinez and Evans are the top targets.

Mateo Kovacic | Real Madrid —> Manchester United — This rumor is from Spanish outlet Don Balon. We’re not even going to link to it, because Don Balon seems to spew more BS than anybody else. It also claims Liverpool is in for Alexis Sanchez, which A) doesn’t make sense, and B) contradicts what several other outlets are reporting. We’ll continue to include some of Don Balon‘s rumors here, but frankly, we encourage you to assume they’re false.

Some more Premier League rumors:

– Four Premier League clubs (Southampton, Everton, West Ham, Newcastle) are reportedly in on Arsenal forward Theo Walcott, but Southampton is the favorite.
– Watford is interested in Leicester City striker Islam Slimani, Liverpool outcast Lazar Markovic, and Sunderland midfielder Didier Ndong.
– Newcastle is interested in Watford striker Troy Deeney.
– Sevilla is interested in recent Everton signing Sandro Ramirez, who has failed to impress in his half-season at Goodison Park.
