Tottenham's match-winning hero Son: New stadium is 'amazing'
Heung-min Son has hailed a new era after the South Korean forward helped Tottenham to a stadium-opening 2-0 win against Crystal Palace.
The wait for the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium to host its first Premier League game was a long one, but was worth the wait for the fans.
Son deservedly opened the scoring for the hosts with a deflected second-half shot which left Vicente Guaita stranded.
And Christian Eriksen wrapped up proceedings when he slammed home from close range after Harry Kane was brought down in the box.
But Spurs star Son was left awe-struck by the new ground and believes it could be just the start for fans of the Lilywhites.
“It’s just amazing, an unbelievable stadium and unbelievable crowd as well,” he told broadcasters after the match. “The noise was just so loud.
“To score first goal at this stadium, it is unreal, I can’t say. I want to say thank you to the team mates and the fans who supported us to get the three points.”

Tottenham’s first-half domination was countered by a profligacy which prevented them opening the scoring .
Indeed, fans would have been forgiven for feeling anxious mid-way through the match, having been on a five-game streak with just one point to show for it.
But Son’s opener eased the tension around the north London venue.
“I think from the first half we created so many chances, dominated the game, it was time to score.
“We had to be patient for this right moment and finally we found it. After that we created even more chances than before.”
He added: “It is amazing.
I was told a few times White Hart Lane is our history, it is so small a stadium, a beautiful stadium and then you see the new stadium... I can’t believe it.
“To see the stadium, watch the stadium and play with the stadium, for me is an amazing experience.”
Before the match began, an opening ceremony prolonged kick-off with an array of fireworks helping to launch the stadium.
But not all were pleased by it - with Palace defender James Tompkins labelling it ‘not ideal’.
He added: “It goes on a bit and it is a bit surreal.
“We tried to keep the crowd quiet for as long as possible. We will take some positives out of that.”
