Report: Danny Green to sign two-year deal with the Los Angeles Lakers
Shortly after Kawhi Leonard announced he is leaving Toronto for Southern California, Danny Green followed suit.
The Toronto Raptors shooting guard will sign with the Los Angeles Lakers, according to The Athletic’s Shams Charania.

Green, who became a free agent this summer, will sign a two-year, $30 million deal with the Lakers, according to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski. He averaged 10.3 points and four rebounds while shooting a career-high 45.5 percent from the 3-point line for the Raptors this season, helping lead them to their first NBA title.
Leonard reached a four-year, $142 million deal with the Los Angeles Clippers earlier on Friday night, marking the second Raptors player to leave following their win against the Golden State Warriors in the NBA Finals last month. The Clippers also traded for Oklahoma City Thunder star Paul George, sending five future first-round picks, two pick swaps and Shai Gilgeous Alexander and Danilo Gallinari.
Green was likely to leave Toronto this summer regardless, and had drawn significant interest from both the Lakers and the Clippers and the Dallas Mavericks.
The Lakers had been looking for another star to play alongside LeBron James and Anthony Davis. While they missed out on Leonard, which would have undoubtedly made them the league favorites next season, Green is a solid addition — and was perhaps the most sought-after 3-and-D player available in free agency this summer.
Kentavious Caldwell-Pope, JaVale McGee to return to Lakers
The Lakers front office didn’t quit after adding Green on Friday night.
Center JaVale McGee and guard Kentavious Caldwell-Pope both reached deals with the organization to remain in Los Angeles, according to ESPN’s Ramona Shelburne.
Caldwell-Pope agreed to a two-year, $16 million deal and McGee agreed to a two-year, $8.2 million deal with a player option in the second year.

The Lakers are expected to bring back Kentavious Caldwell-Pope on a two year, $16 million deal, per league sources.

Caldwell-Pope averaged 11.4 points and 2.9 rebounds in nearly 25 minutes per game, mainly coming off the bench for the first time in his career. McGee averaged 12 points and 7.5 rebounds with the Lakers last season, his first with the organization after a two-year stint with the Warriors.
