Defensemen Matt Anderson, Jacob Bengtsson, Ryan McCleary, Tommy Miller, Rhett Parsons, Chas Sharpe, and William Villeneuve, as well as goaltenders Jon Gillies, Dennis Hildeby, and Vyacheslav Peska were sent down.

Abruzzese, Kressler, Voit, Villeneuve, Hildeby, and Peksa are all under NHL contracts. Lisowsky, Parsons, and Gillies were at camp on tryouts, while the other 12 players are on AHL contracts.

Solow, Villeneuve, Mastrosimone, Miller, Anderson, Barbolini, Sharpe, Stevens, Voit, and Hildeby all appeared in at least one game for the Marlies last season. Abruzzese lead the team in games played and was fourth in scoring with 52 points in 71 games.

Bengtsson, McCleary, Frasca, and Kressler all look to play their first professional games this season.

Hildeby should split the majority of the Marlies starts with Matt Murray this season, and he could very well play himself into the mix with the Maple Leafs after a strong pre-season. Peksa appeared in 19 ECHL games for the Newfoundland Growlers last season, his first in North America.

The Hockey News Toronto dove into the moves here.

The Marlies open their season Oct. 12 at home against the San Diego Gulls.
