Top Texas-Exes: Panthers DB D'Shawn Jamison demolishes Vikings QB Kirk Cousins on block

Welcome to the top Texas-exes! In this series, we'll be looking at Longhorn alums that stood out in the NFL that week and choosing a top play to focus on.

This week, let's focus on Panthers defensive back D'Shawn Jamison. He went undrafted in the 2023 NFL draft before signing with the 49ers as an undrafted free agent. He was eventually cut at the end of training camp before signing with the Carolina Panthers.

He's only had three tackles and one pass defended on the season, but one of those tackles was particularly memorable during the Panthers' one touchdown scored in their 21-13 loss on Sunday, a Pick-6 by Sam Franklin.

When Franklin grabbed the interception, Jamison was five yards behind him. However, he didn't miss a beat, sprinting nearly 80 yards down the field to deliver a huge block on Vikings quarterback Kirk Cousins, who was attempting to make a tackle. A top special teams player at Texas, Jamison's ability to pave the way for his teammates was on full display, as he threw one last block at K.J. Osborn right as Franklin entered the endzone.

Time for the first Bijan Robinson update of the season. As one of the most hyped rookies in the NFL, the bar for the Falcons running back is a lot higher than most. Even so, he still collected 105 yards on 14 carries and caught five balls in a 23-7 loss to the Jaguars. He's had over 100 yards in two out of the four games he's played and at least four catches in all of them.

Saints defensive lineman Malcolm Roach had eight total tackles in a 26-9 loss to the Buccaneers, by far the most he's had in this young season and a career high. He was signed as an UDFA by New Orleans in 2020 and is in his fourth season in the NFL.
