Top performers: Tuscaloosa area high school sports top performers for week of March 25-29

Here are the Tuscaloosa area top performers from the week of March 25-29 from high school, tennis, soccer, baseball and softball.

Softball

Brookwood's Amori Morrison finished the week allowing two runs through 11 innings pitched with 11 strikeouts and a 1.27 ERA.

Brookwood's Kennedy Childers finished the week going 5-for-7 from the plate and batting .714.

Monday, March 25

Winfield's Willa Simmons gave up zero hits and zero runs while recording nine strikeouts in a 17-0 win over South Lamar.

Winfield's Hanna Kimbrell added a home run.

Winfield's Kennah Beth Lacy, Lexi May and Jayci Griffin each went 3-for-4 from the plate.

Thursday, March 28

Brookwood's Kennedy Childers went 3-for-3 from the plate with two home runs and a double in a 5-1 win over Hillcrest. She finished the week going 5-for-7 from the plate and batting .714.

Brookwood's Amori Morrison gave up four hits, one run and struck out nine in seven innings pitched.

Northside's Baylee Appling gave up one run on three hits and struck out one in five innings pitched in an 8-5 victory over Tuscaloosa County.

Northside's Reagean Robertson had two RBIs.

Northside's Avery Sharbutt, Claire Jones, Brayden Billings and Sarah Lee each recorded two hits.

Tuscaloosa County's Holly Beth Brooks went 3-for-4 from the plate with a home run and two RBIs in a 8-5 loss to Northside.

Baseball

Northridge's Anthony Messina went 2-0 in his starts on the mound this week in 12 innings pitched.

Northridge's Jack Sanderson went 8-for-14 from the plate on the week with three doubles, five RBIs, three walks along with a stolen base and a run.

Monday, March 25

Tuscaloosa Academy's Ellis Hamiter went 2-for-3 from the plate and led the team with three RBIs in an 11-1 win over Lamar County.

Tuscaloosa Academy's Brandon Cross led the Knights in hits going 3-for-4 from the plate.

Tuesday, March 26

Paul W. Bryant's Jayden Smith struck out 11 batters, giving up zero runs on six hits over 7.0 innings pitched in a 3-0 win over Central.

Paul W. Bryant's Aiden Storey went 1-for-2 at the plate with a double.

Paul W. Bryant's Brandon Gooden, Boris Rhodes and Cam'Ron McCleod each collected a hit.

Tuscaloosa Academy's Ellis Hamiter went 1-for-3 from the plate with a double in a 15-0 win over Aliceville.

Tuscaloosa Academy's Brandon Cross went 2-for-2 from the plate in a 19-0 win over Aliceville.

Wednesday, March 27

Hillcrest's Evan Williams went 2-for-2 from the plate with a three-run walk off home run in a 14-11 win over Northridge.

Hillcrest's Gunnar Hobson went 3-for-3 from the plate with two singles, four RBIs and a three-run home run. He also scored two runs.

Thursday, March 28

Northridge's Evan Malone pitched a complete game shutout in a 1-0 win over Hillcrest, giving up zero runs off of two hits to go with 11 strikeouts and one walk over 7.0 innings pitched.

Tuscaloosa Academy's Spencer Stephens allowed zero hits and zero runs over four innings pitched, striking out nine and walking none in a 16-0 win over Francis Marion.

Tuscaloosa Academy's Mac Moore went 2-for-3 from the plate, leading the team with three RBIs, in a 19-0 win over Francis Marion.

Boys tennis

Wednesday, March 27

Hillcrest's line one doubles duo of Griffin Armstrong and JC Foster defeated Northridge's Tommy Rowan and Paul Vise by a score of 10-4.

Northridge's line one singles Will Thom defeated Hillcrest's Griffin Armstrong 4-6, 6-3 and 14-12 in a 6-3 Northridge team win.

Northridge's line two singles Tommy Rowan defeated Hillcrest's Eli Hamner 6-4, 6-2.

Girls tennis

Demopolis's Millie Hill, Anna Rene Lewis, Sasser Braswell, Emery Wideman and Caroline Mullins are undefeated in area play.

Monday, March 25

Hillcrest's line one singles Kameryn Browne defeated Northridge's Alice Rowley by a score of 11-9.

Northridge's line two singles Carter Thomason defeated Hillcrest's Zoe Fuller by a score of 10-3. Northridge recorded a 8-1 team win over Hillcrest.

Northridge's line one doubles of Alice Rowley and Carter Thomason defeated Hillcrest's Kameryn Browne and Zoe Fuller by a score of 10-5.

Boys soccer

Monday, March 25

Tuscaloosa Academy's Anton Schmidt scored five goals in a 8-0 win over Holy Spirit.

Tuscaloosa Academy's Simon Mitrev, Phillip Mitrev and Alex Pereyda each scored a goal.

Tuesday, March 26

American Christian Academy's Matthew Hale had nine saves in goal, including two penalty kick saves in a 3-2 penalty kick shootout win over Holt.

American Christian Academy's Austin Hargrove, Walker Hill, DJ Daly and Grady Traweek each scored a penalty kick, while Hargrove recorded both goals during regulation.

American Christian Academy's Barrett Tipps added an assist.

Northside's Andy Otero scored three goals and recorded three assists in a 9-0 win over Sipsey Valley.

Northside's Lynn Otero, Khaleb Jimenez and Levi Jimenez each scored two goals.

Tuscaloosa Academy's Anton Schmidt scored three goals in a 7-0 win over Demopolis.

Tuscaloosa Academy's Amelia Hamiter and Audra Kutzer each scored a goal in a 2-0 win over Holy Spirit.

Tuesday, March 26

American Christian Academy's Addison Golden scored four goals in a 6-3 win over Holt and added an assist.

American Christian Academy's Kaylee Shaw scored a goal and recorded an assist.

American Christian Academy's Savannah Aderholt had seven saves in goal.

Brookwood's Dassy Correa, Payton Mays, Madelyn Morris and Naylee Salazar each scored a goal in a 4-1 win over Tuscaloosa County.

Brookwood's Crystal Ramirez had nine saves and only gave up one goal.

Tuscaloosa Academy's Amelia Hamiter scored six goals in a 10-0 win over Demopolis.

Tuscaloosa Academy's Audra Kutzer, Ella Williams, Sally Poole and Elena Matos each scored a goal.

Tuscaloosa Academy's Carly King recorded a clean sheet in goal.

Thursday, March 28

American Christian Academy's Mariah Odum, Kimber Price and Addison Golden each scored a goal in a 3-1 win over Demopolis.

American Christian Academy's Kaylee Shaw and Kimber Price each recorded an assist.

Boys golf

Holy Spirit finished in fourth place at the Tom Tarleton Memorial, led by Louie Holt who shot an 83.

Northridge finished as runner-up in the Tom Tarleton Memorial with a score of 326, led by Andrew Rath who shot a 79 (+8). Will Chambers also shot a 77 (+6).

Northside finished in sixth place at the Tom Tarleton Memorial with a score of 410, led by Kam Colee who shot a 79.

Tuscaloosa Academy's finished in fifth place at the Tom Tarleton Memorial with a score of 404, led by Jack Smith who shot an 86.

Winfield's Elliot Overton won the West Alabama Conference Championship at Fayette Country Club with a score of +3.

Girls golf

Northside came in second place at the Tom Tarleton Memorial with a score of 306, led by Lucy Lunceford, who shot a 97.

Tuscaloosa Academy won the Tom Tarleton Memorial with a score of 262, led by Anna Christian Beeker who shot a 74 (+2).
