Top performers: Tuscaloosa area high school sports top performers for week of April 29-May 3

Here are the Tuscaloosa area top performers from the week of April 29-May 3 from high school golf, soccer, track and field, baseball and softball.

Baseball

American Christian Academy's Evan Lightsey went 3-for-6 from the plate with two home runs and five RBIs in the series sweep over Oak Grove (5-1, 14-0) to advance to the Class 4A Final Four.

American Christian Academy's Addison Goodman pitched a complete game, allowing one run on three hits and striking out five batters in a game one win.

American Christian Academy's Coltyn Mitchell started on the mound in game two, allowing one hit and no runs while striking out nine batters.

Bibb County's Bodie Giddens led the Choctaws with three hits and two RBIs in the series finale 6-3 win over Trinity-Presbyterian. Bibb County won the series 2-1 (2-4, 1-0, 6-3) and advance to the Final Four.

Bibb County's Matthew Cash added two hits in the series finale.

Hillcrest's Jackson Henderson threw a complete game in the series finale vs. Baldwin County, giving up one run on one hit and striking out eight. From the plate, Henderson went 2-for-3 with a two-run home run. Hillcrest won its series over Baldwin County 2-1.

Hillcrest's Rhett Turnipseed went 3-for-4 from the plate in the game three win, including two clutch RBI singles.

Softball

Brookwood won the Class 6A, Area 8 tournament, and was led by Kennedy Childers, who hit .571 for the tournament, including going 4-for-4 from the plate in the championship game.

Brookwood's KG Roy hit .556 in the tournament with six RBIs and a home run.

Brookwood's Amori Morrison pitched a seven-inning complete game in the championship contest, giving up three hits and no runs with five strikeouts.

Hillcrest won the Class 6A, Area 6 tournament, led by Jamie Hughley, who went 5-fot-7 from the plate with three RBIs in the area tournament.

Hillcrest's Nichole Dockery went 5-for-12 from the plate with four RBIs.

Hillcrest's Mackenzie Harper pitched 6.0 innings and struck out 11 batters with two saves.

Northridge's Anna Henderson went 6-for-9 from the plate with six RBIs, four doubles and four runs scored during the area tournament.

Northridge's Mary Henderson went 5-for-9 from the plate with four RBIs and two doubles.

Northridge's Anna Reed went 4-for-8 from the plate with a home run, three RBIs, scoring five runs and stealing two bases.

Northside won the Class 4A, Area 7 tournament, with its pitching staff, led by Avery Patton and Baylee Appling, pitching 16 innings and allowing one run.

Northside's Haley Lyons batted .750 at the area tournament.

Sipsey Valley's Sarah Aaron finished the regular season batting .309 with 34 runs scored, 25 RBIs and 20 put outs. The Lady Bears finished as the runners-up in the Class 4A, Area 7 tournament, qualifying for a regional for the sixth time in program history and the fourth-straight season.

Sipsey Valley's Kensley Jolly is batting .313 with 26 runs scored and 24 RBIs with a team-leading 12 hit by pitches and a team-best fielding percentage of .978.

Sipsey Valley's Maddy Smith has 55 put outs and 15 RBIs to go with a team-leading 91 assists and a fielding percentage of .907.

Track and field

Northridge's Erin Pernell won first place in the 300-meter hurdles with a time of 47.05 at the Class 6A, Section 3 meet. She also won first place in the triple jump with 36-01 1/2 and came in second for the 100-meter hurdles with a time of 16.51.

Northridge's Maya Hall won second in the discus throw with 113-03 in the section meet and won second in the javelin throw with 110-11.

Northridge's Ceaira Wine won first place in the girls high jump at 5-2.

Northridge's Harley McNeal won first place in the 200 meters with a time of 26.21 seconds. She also came in third in the 400 with a time of 59.69.

Northridge's Jennings Hinz won first place in long jump with 23-0.5 and came in second for high jump at 6-2.

Northridge's Khiyon Lewis won first in triple jump at 46-5 and came in second in long jump with 22-11 1/4.

Northridge's William Numnum won first in the 300-meter hurdles with a time of 39.24 and won pole vault with a height of 14-6.

Northridge's Shawn Stephenson took first in the 1,600 meters with a time of 4:32 and came in second in the 3,200 with a time of 10:01.

Golf

The Northridge boys won the Class 6A, Section 2 tournament, shooting 295 (+7).

Northridge's Jace Duckworth had the best round of the day for Northridge, shooting an even-par 72, tying for the top individual score of the day.

Northridge's Caleb Terrell shot a 73 (+1) followed by Taylor Chambers who shot a 74 (+2).

Tuscaloosa Academy's boys and girls teams took home the Class 1A-2A Section 2 tournaments.

Tuscaloosa Academy's AC Beeker earned the girl's tournament's low medalist award.
