Top performers: See Tuscaloosa area high school sports top performers for week of Feb. 26-March 1

Here are the Tuscaloosa area top performers from the week of Feb. 26 through March 1, from high school basketball, tennis, soccer, golf, baseball and softball.

Boys basketball

ACA's Eric Hines scored 17 points to go with 19 rebounds for the double-double performance in a 58-54 win over Deshler in the Class 4A AHSAA semifinals.

ACA's Davis Dare finished with 12 points, three rebounds and three assists.

ACA's Hunter Bates finished with 12 points, two rebounds and two steals.

Sumter Central's Jonathan Fitch finished with 21 points and five rebounds in a 64-61 loss to Midfield in the Class 3A AHSAA semifinals.

Sumter Central's Emmanuel Clarton finished with 16 points, five rebounds and four assists.

Friday, March 1

Girls basketball

Hillcrest's Jareah Branch scored 15 points to go with three rebounds and two steals in a 52-38 loss to Hazel Green in the Final Four.

Hillcrest's Blakely Nixon and Trinity Braggs each added eight points.

Softball

Monday, Feb. 26

Southern Academy's Maddie Rogers drove in five runs and hit a home run to centerfield in a 12-0 win over Jackson Academy.

Tuesday, Feb. 27

Fayette County's Skyi Lewis, Rayah Nichols and Lashelle Cannon each added in an RBI in a 7-5 loss to Northridge.

Hale County's Summer Stephens went 2-for-2 at the plate with five RBIs, one home run, one double and scored one run in a 16-0 win over Montevallo.

Hale County's Caylee Montgomery went 2-for-3 with three RBIs and a double, along with scoring a run.

Northridge's Ac Henderson picked up a 7-5 win over Fayette County, allowing seven hits and five runs over 7.0 innings pitched, while also going 1-for-3 from the plate and batting in two RBIs.

Thursday, Feb. 29

Demopolis's Ashton Moorer threw a no-hitter, allowing zero hits and zero runs over six innings and striking out 15 and walking one in a 10-0 win over Sweet Water.

Hale County's Summer Stephens went 4-for-5 from the plate in a 16-7 win over Northridge with one home run, five RBIs and four runs.

Hale County's Brylie Frye went 3-for-5 from the plate with one stolen base, one triple and four runs.

Tuscaloosa County's Holly Beth Brooks went 2-for-4 from the plate in a 10-4 win over Sipsey Valley with a home run, a double and two RBIs.

Tuscaloosa County's Peyton Earp threw three innings and struck out nine, while also going 2-for-5 from the plate with one RBI and one stolen base.

Baseball

Saturday, Feb. 24

Central's Armani White pitched seven complete innings in an 8-0 victory over Parker, striking out 16 batters and giving up zero hits and zero runs.

Thursday, Feb. 29

Hillcrest's Jackson Henderson threw six complete innings, giving up two runs on five hits, walking one batter and striking out eight in a 6-4 win over the No. 2 team in Mississippi's Class 7A, Gulfport.

Tuscaloosa County's Spencer Nicholas threw six innings, giving up one hit and one run along with striking out 11 batters and walking three in a 6-1 win over Northridge.

Tuscaloosa County's Drew Keller went 2-for-4 from the plate with a double and an RBI.

Tuscaloosa County's Kole Nicholson went 2-for-4 from the plate with two RBIs.

Boys soccer

Monday, Feb. 26

Northside's Levi Jemenez, Eder Miranda and Lynn Otero each scored a goal in a 3-2 win over Holt.

Northside's Andy Otero added two assists.

Northside's Seth Gear recorded 13 saves in goal.

Tuesday, Feb. 27

Northside's Lynn Otero scored six goals in an 11-1 win over Paul W. Bryant.

Northside's Khaleb Jimenez scored two goals, while Levi Jimenez, Andy Otero and Rafael Andablo-Lugo each scored one.

Thursday, Feb. 29

Northside's Khaleb Jimenez scored three goals and recorded an assist in a 7-0 win over Central.

Northside's Lynn Otero scored two goals.

Girls tennis

Tuesday, Feb. 27

Northridge's line one singles Alice Rowle defeated Hillcrest's Kameryn Browne by a score of 10-2.

Northridge's line two singles Carter Thomason defeated Hillcrest's Zoe Fuller by a score of 10-1.

Northridge's line one doubles Alice Rowley and Carter Thomason defeated Hillcrest's Kameryn Browne and Zoe Fuller by a score of 10-4.

Northridge's line two doubles Kate Thom and Alex Salekin defeated Hillcrest's AK Lovelace and Lydia Heaton by a score of 10-5.

Thursday, Feb. 29

Tuscaloosa Academy's line one singles Sarah Miller defeated University Charter School's Emma Ryan Edmunds by a score of 8-5 and defeated Holy Family's Mikayla Young 8-0.

Tuscaloosa Academy's line two singles Allie Wagner defeated University Charter School's Mabry Beard by a score of 8-5 and defeated Holy Family's Serenity Walters 8-1.

Tuscaloosa Academy's line one doubles of Sarah Miller and Allie Wagner defeated University Charter School's Emma Ryan Edmunds and Mabry Beard by a score of 8-3.

Tuscaloosa Academy's line one doubles of Sarah Miller and Fair Garner defeated Holy Family's Mikayla Young and Serenity Walters by a score of 8-0.

Fayette County's line one singles Emily Huang defeated Tuscaloosa County's Lilly Smart by a score of 8-2.

Fayette County's line two singles Kyndal Tucker defeated Tuscaloosa County's Zion Grant 8-0.

Fayette County's line one doubles duo of Emily Huang and Ann Carson Cowart defeated Tuscaloosa County's Lilly Smart and Francesca Muniz by a score of 8-6.

Boys tennis

Tuesday, Feb. 27

Hillcrest's line one doubles duo of Griffin Armstrong and Eli Hamner won their match over Northridge's Tommy Rowan and Paul Vise by a score of 10-3.

Hillcrest's line two doubles JC Foster and Jackson Poe won their doubles match over Northridge's Will Thom and Blake Smith by a score of 8-3.

Northridge's line one singles Will Thom defeated Hillcrest's Griffin Armstrong by a score of 11-10 in five sets.

Northridge's line three doubles duo of Grayson McCafferty and Ray Lambert won their match over Hillcrest's Conner Harbin and Matthewson by a score of 10-6.

Friday, March 1

Tuscaloosa County's line one singles Roberto Mendez defeated Fayette County's Oscar Huang by a score of 8-2 and defeated Spain Park's Auston Parks 8-4.

Tuscaloosa County's line two singles Caleb Rogers defeated Fayette County's Didier Cruz 8-3.

Tuscaloosa County's line one doubles duo of Roberto Mendez and Caleb Rogers defeated Fayette County's Oscar Huang and Didier Cruz by a score of 8-4. The duo also defeated Spain Park's Teagan Thornton and Kaushik Dheeravath by a score of 8-4.

Girls golf

Brookwood's Ella Roberts shot scores of 40 and 38 in the wins over Sipsey Valley and Hillcrest.
