Tom Brady shows sense of humor about deflate-gate in new commercial
New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady really hasn’t talked much about deflate-gate since the story first broke way back when. Brady doesn’t really talk about anything that might create any waves, so that’s no surprise.
That’s probably what made the new Foot Locker commercial so funny.
The premise is that two guys are walking into a diner wondering “what Foot Locker is up to” because it’s promotional “Week of Greatness” keeps getting better after five years. Then they’re accosted by an upset Brady, who starts in on an obvious takeoff of the deflate-gate controversy that led to his four-game suspension this season.
“That’s an unfortunate mindset you’ve got there,” Brady said. “Just because something is great year after year doesn’t mean something is going on. Why can’t some things just be great?”
The spot comes to an end with an even more obvious reference to deflate-gate.
“Why would you punish the ‘Week of Greatness’ for something that never even happened?” Brady says, his voice rising.
Even if Brady hasn’t said much about deflate-gate publicly, this is a pretty humorous way to get his point across.
