Report: Tobias Harris returns to 76ers on 5-year, $180M deal
After splitting last season between the Los Angeles Clippers and 76ers, Tobias Harris has agreed to remain in Philadelphia on a five-year, $180 million deal, ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski reports.

The well-traveled small forward was in the midst of a career season with the Clippers before the midseason trade that sent him to Philadelphia. The 76ers acquired Harris as part of an all-in effort to compete for a championship as the Clippers set their sights on clearing cap space for free agency.

Prior to the deal, Harris was averaging 20.9 points, 7.9 rebounds and 2.7 assists while hitting at a 43.4 percent clip from 3-point distance.
Busy free-agent period for 76ers
Sunday was an eventful day for the 76ers who also reportedly agreed to a deal with free agent forward Al Horford while trading Jimmy Butler to the Miami Heat and watching JJ Redick leave for the New Orleans Pelicans.
Harris thrived in Philadelphia after trade
Most expected his numbers to fall off in Philadelphia while sharing the ball with Joel Embiid, Jimmy Butler and Ben Simmons. He still averaged 18.2 points, 7.9 rebounds and 2.9 assists, while his 3-point shooting leveled off to 32.6 percent in 27 games with the 76ers. But Philadelphia fell short of its team goals, falling in the second round of the playoffs to the eventual champion Toronto Raptors.
While he didn’t make an All-Star team last season, it’s easy to make the case that the 26-year-old is playing at an All-Star level as he hits his prime.
While the 76ers have reportedly retained Harris, they have reportedly watched JJ Redick leave for the New Orleans Pelicans in free agency. Meanwhile, free agent Jimmy Butler is reportedly leaning toward the Miami Heat.
Long-term home for Harris?
With the deal, Harris may find some stability after playing for five different teams since being drafted in the first round in the 2011 draft. And he never played for the team that drafted him. The then-Charlotte Bobcats selected him with the 19th pick before including him in a three-team deal that sent him to the Milwaukee Bucks.
The Bucks traded Harris to the Orlando Magic halfway through his second season. He has since played for the Detroit Pistons, Clippers and 76ers.
