Titans coach Mike Vrabel tests positive for COVID-19 after joint practices with Buccaneers
The Tennessee Titans' Mike Vrabel tested positive for COVID-19, the head coach said during a Zoom call with reporters Sunday.
Vrabel said he had a sore throat Sunday morning and decided to get tested. He is now in quarantine and will follow the NFL's COVID-19 protocols.
"We'll be fine. We'll figure this thing out," Vrabel said. "I don't think anyone who has been tested this morning has tested positive."
The fourth-year coach will have a PCR test Monday. Per NFL protocols, fully vaccinated and asymptomatic individuals can return after two negative tests at least 24 hours apart. If he has two negatives within a 48-hour period, he can return to training camp in-person, he said. If not it would be 10 days.
Titans, Buccaneers held joint training camp
The Titans defeated the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, 34-3, in preseason action on Saturday in Florida. The two organizations held a joint week of practices ahead of the contest. Vrabel, 46, was seen talking with Buccaneers players, including quarterback Tom Brady and his son, Jack, the newest Bucs water boy.

Coaches and players are required to wear contact chips to help with contact tracing. Vaccinated coaches and players exposed to a COVID-19 positive person do not have to quarantine, but are tested more regularly.
The Titans experienced a coronavirus outbreak early last season that forced the postponement of games in Weeks 4 and 5.
