Tiger Woods is taking his time before jumping back on Tour after his win at Augusta National.

Woods — who picked up his 15th major victory at the Masters earlier this month — will not play at the Wells Fargo Championship next week at Quail Hollow Club, according to the PGA Tour.

Woods did not play in either the RBC Heritage or the Zurich Classic of New Orleans in the two weeks following his Masters win, which had many fans speculating that he would make his return at Quail Hollow. It would have also served as a perfect middle tournament before the PGA Championship next month at Bethpage Black.

Instead, it seems as if Woods will just jump right to New York in May and attempt to pick up his 16th major victory — which would inch him closer to Jack Nicklaus’ major record. He has played the Black Course twice when it has hosted a major tournament in the past, winning the U.S. Open there in 2002 and finishing tied for sixth at the U.S. Open there in 2009.

The Wells Fargo Championship will still boast a strong field without Woods. Jason Day will return to defend his title, and will be joined by Rory McIlroy, Justin Rose, Rickie Fowler and Phil Mickelson, among others.
