The Bears should probably give Carli Lloyd a look at kicker after 55-yard field goal

Sometimes solutions to problems are too simple.

The Chicago Bears need a kicker.

Carli Lloyd can kick.

Bears kicking situation remains unresolved

The Bears have been haunted by the double doink of Cody Parkey’s missed 43-yard field goal that cost them a playoff game against the Philadelphia Eagles last season and have gone to great lengths in the offseason to find a kicker they can trust. They recently cut Elliott Fry from their kicker competition.

Lloyd, meanwhile, is one of the world’s best soccer players, a two-time FIFA player of the year. She also knows pressure pressure situations, having won two Olympic Gold medals and two World Cup championships.

Oh, and she can kick a football too. Just in case you were wondering if her skills were limited to a round soccer ball.

She showed off her leg as a guest at Philadelphia Eagles practice on Tuesday, making 32-yard field goals on the narrow uprights with ease.

Carli Lloyd’s big leg

Of course, the ability to kick 32-yard field goals dead center is an impressive task, but it doesn’t make an NFL-caliber kicker.

How about a 55 yarder?

As you can tell from the reaction as soon as the ball left Lloyd’s foot, that kick was a no-doubter. Lloyd crushed a 55-yard field directly through the center of the uprights.

Sure, it’s not a game situation. But as noted above, Lloyd has thrived on some of the biggest stages in the world. She doesn’t seem the type to cave to a high pressure NFL field goal situation.

The Eagles appear set at kicker with third-year veteran Jake Elliott handling duties. So, again. Maybe the Bears should give her a call.
