'Thanks for inspiring me': Kent Johnson, Adam Fantilli, Blue Jackets mourn Johnny Gaudreau

Shortly after Johnny Gaudreau's death was announced, Blue Jackets center Kent Johnson posted a picture of him and Gaudreau before they were teammates.

On his Instagram story, Johnson posted a picture of him as a child standing rink side at a Calgary Flames game as Gaudreau warmed up in the background.

"Thanks for inspiring me," Johnson wrote.

As reactions from all over the world poured in after Gaudreau and his brother Matthew were killed in a bike crash involving a suspected drunk driver, many of Gaudreau's teammates joined in on social media.

Blue Jackets center Cole Sillinger posted a picture of himself and Gaudreau with the caption "Love you Johnny, rest easy."

Blue Jackets defenseman Zach Werenski said "Rest easy brother" on his Instagram story along with picture.

Former Blue Jackets and current Montreal Canadiens right wing Patrik Laine said "Rest in peace brother" with a heart emoji and a candle emoji.

Blue Jackets center Adam Fantilli posted a picture of himself and Gaudreau in the team's locker room.

"Still can't believe it," Fantilli wrote. "Rest in peace brother, love you."

After nine seasons with the Flames, Gaudreau signed a seven-year, $68.25 million deal with the Blue Jackets as an unrestricted free agent. In two seasons with the Blue Jackets, Gaudreau had 33 goals and 101 assists in 161 games.

Along with the poster of him and Gaudreau separated by the glass, Johnson followed with a picture of both of them on the ice, playing together for the Blue Jackets.

"Dream come true to play with you," Johnson said. "Amazing teammate and friend. Prayers for the Gaudreau family."
