Texas Tech football vs Arizona score today: Red Raiders get important 28-22 win over Wildcats

The Texas Tech football team let a 15-point lead at halftime slip away before rumbling back late in the fourth to secure a 28-22 win over Arizona.

The Red Raiders improved to 5-1 on the season with a 3-0 record in Big 12 play. Based on the schedule, the Red Raiders are alone in first place of the conference standings. Their overall and conference marks are the best starts for the program since 2013.

Tahj Brooks rank for 128 yards and three touchdowns on 21 carries but the Red Raiders had to overcome two fumbles from Brooks. Tech's defense had two interceptions of Arizona quarterback Noah Fifita and Jacob Rodriguez had the game-sealing forced fumble to get the victory.

1:40 a.m.: Texas Tech recovers the onside kick and the Red Raiders will get out of Tucson with the win. Final: Texas Tech 28, Arizona 22

1:38 a.m.: Tyler Loop sinks his fifth FG of the game, this one from 52, to trim the deficit to 28-22 with 54 seconds left. Onside kick coming.

1:29 a.m.: Out of the break, Tahj Brooks sprints all 32 yards in for a massive touchdown, his third of the game. Red Raiders lead 28-19 with 1:53 left.

1:26 a.m.: Tahj Brooks runs to the 32 to get us to the two-minute timeout. Red Raiders have 1st-and-10 out of the break. Arizona has two timeouts left to stop the clock.

1:23 a.m.: Jacob Rodriguez forces a fumble and Brenden Jordan recovers at the 43. Texas Tech ball.

1:21 a.m.: Caleb Douglas lets the go-ahead TD off his finger tips and Gino Garcia converts a 41-yard FG. Texas Tech back in front 21-19 with 2:21 left.

1:18 a.m.: Morton connects with Douglas on a gain of 32 yards to get into field goal range.

1:14 a.m.: Once again the Texas Tech defense bails out its offense, making the Wildcats settle for a 48-yard field goal attempt. Tyler Loop misses, so Tech will take over with 4:52 left down 19-18.

1:05 a.m.: Texas Tech opts to punt on 4th-and-1 in its own territory. Wildcats ball at their own 36 with 8:59 left.

1:00 a.m.: Arizona has taken a 19-18 lead on another field goal from Tyler Loop. 10:07 left.

12:49 a.m.: Tahj Brooks has fumbled for the second time tonight. Arizona will have the ball at the Tech 44.

12:43 a.m.: End of 3rd, Texas Tech leads Arizona 18-16. Red Raiders have 3rd-and-1 at their own 34 out of the break.

12:40 a.m.: Quali Conley provides Arizona with its first TD of the game. Arizona has cut Texas Tech's lead down to 18-16 w/ 1:10 left in third.

12:33 a.m.: Texas Tech offense has sputtered out. Another punt and Arizona has the ball at its 28 with 5:47 left in the third.

12:26 a.m.: Tech defense holds again and Loop connects from 30 yards out. Red Raiders up 18-9, 6:46 left in third.

12:19 a.m.: This time Tahj Brooks' patience costs him. Brooks fumbles and Arizona recovers at the Tech 32.

12:14 a.m.: A good Arizona drive stalls out and Tyler Loop hits a 40-yard field goal to cut Texas Tech's lead to 18-6 with 9:30 left in the third.

12:05 a.m.: Red Raiders also go 3-and-out. Arizona starts the drive at its own 22.

12:03 a.m.: Fifita misses on all three of his passes and Arizona punts to start the second half. Red Raiders begin the drive at their own 47.

12:00 a.m.: We've reached Sunday morning and the second half has begun.

11:39 p.m.: Gino Garica connects on a 30-yard field goal as time expires. Red Raiders head into halftime with an 18-3 lead over Arizona.

11:36 p.m.: Behren Morton connects with Caleb Douglas on a 57-yard pass to get the Red Raiders into field goal range. 15 seconds left in the half.

11:33 p.m.: Noah Fifita lofts a ball into the end zone and C.J. Baskerville is the only player there. He comes up with his second interception of the season.

11:32 p.m.: Bralyn Lux gets called for pass interference on 3rd-and-6 to extend the Arizona drive.

11:26 p.m.: Tahj Brooks hits the hole and finds his way in for a 9-yard TD. Tech goes for 2 and Johncarlos Miller II converts. 15-3

11:21 p.m.: Two-minute timeout. Texas Tech has 1st-and-10 at the Arizona 17

11:19 p.m.: Jacob Rodriguez bats a Noah Fifita pass in the air and Quincy Ledet comes up with the interception. He even hurdles to put Tech at the Arizona 30.

11:11 p.m.: (Make a wish) Texas Tech forced to punt again and Jack Burgess pins Arizona inside its own 10.

11:09 p.m.: No, Joey McGuire and Clay McGuire are definitely not brothers, FOX.

11:02 p.m.: Correction: expedited replay shows Fifita was down short of the first down. Wildcats go for it on 4th-and-1 and Tech stuffs the Quali Conley run for a turnover on downs at the 20. 10:32 left in second.

11:01 p.m.: Jacob Rodriguez forces a fumble but Arizona recovers it for a first down.

10:55 p.m.: Arizona sacks Behren Morton for a loss of 19 yards on 3rd-and-7. Punt puts Wildcats at their own 49, 13:19 left in second.

10:51 p.m.: End of 1st, Texas Tech leads Arizona 7-3. Red Raiders facing 2nd-and-13 from its own 22 out of the break.

10:49 p.m.: Tech defense holds on 3rd-and-1 and Tyler Loop connects on a 47-yard field goal. Red Raiders lead 7-3, 22 seconds left in first.

10:45 p.m.: There's the quarterback run game Texas Tech will have to account for. Noah Fifita picks up 12 with his feet on 3rd-and-7 to extend the Arizona drive.

10:37 p.m.: Tahj Brooks follows it up with a 3-yard TD run. Red Raiders take the 7-0 lead, 5:38 left in first.

10:36 p.m.: Micah Hudson makes his first significant play with the starters and falls just shy of his first career TD.

10:29 p.m.: Just as everybody expected, both teams punt on their first two drives of the game. Tech ball at its own 39, 8:05 left in first.

10:24 p.m.: Coy Eakin drops a pass on 3rd and 6 and Texas Tech will punt again. Wildcats ball at their own 15, 9:29 left in first.
