Texas Tech football running back out for year with knee injury
The Texas Tech football team will be without the services of a veteran running back the rest of the season.
Cam'Ron Valdez is listed as out for the season with a knee injury on Tech's weekly availability report, which was released Monday morning. Valdez missed last week's 66-21 win over North Texas with the injury. He was not previously listed on the UNT week injury report, meaning he likely suffered the injury during the week of practice.
Per team policy, head coach Joey McGuire is not expected to comment further on the nature of injuries beyond the availability report.

Valdez appeared in each of Tech's first two games of the season, totaling six yards on his lone carry against Abilene Christian and 34 yards on eight totes against Washington State.
Tahj Brooks is not listed on this week's availability report, so he should be cleared to go after dealing with an arm injury the last two weeks.
With the absence of Valdez, look for true freshmen Cameron Dickey and J'Koby Williams to be utilized a bit more when Brooks is not on the field.
Valdez joins outside linebackers Dylan Spencer and Joseph Adedire and offensive lineman Vinny Sciury as being out for the season. Each is listed as suffering a knee injury.

Outside linebacker Charles Esters III (thigh) and defensive back Javeon Wilcox (knee) are still listed as out for this week's game against Arizona State (2:30 p.m. on FS1) in Jones AT&T Stadium. Neither player has appeared in a game so far this season.
Players listed as questionable include: defensive backs C.J. Baskerville (knee), Brenden Jordan (shoulder) and Bralyn Lux (thigh); quarterback Cameran Brown (knee); outside linebacker Harvey Dyson III (foot); offensive lineman Sterling Porcher (head); and receiver Jordan Brown (shoulder).
