Texas Tech basketball's Pop Isaacs garners another all-Big 12 honor
Pop Isaacs received his second all-conference honor on Tuesday, this one coming on the national scale.
The Texas Tech basketball team's leading scorer, Isaacs was named second team all-Big 12 by the Associated Press, which is voted on by beat writers around the conference.
On Sunday, Isaacs, along with Darrion Williams, was named a third-team all-league honoree by Big 12 coaches.
Isaacs, a 6-foot-2 sophomore guard, leads Texas Tech averaging 16.0 points per game. He averages 3.6 assists and 3.2 rebounds per contest. The Las Vegas native shot 35% from the floor, 30% from 3-point range and 84% from the free throw line in the regular season.

Houston's Kelvin Sampson and Jamal Shead took home the top individual awards. Sampson was named Coach of the Year after receiving nine votes — six went to Iowa State's T.J. Otzelberger while Texas Tech's Grant McCasland and BYU's Mark Pope split the remaining votes.
Shead is the AP's Big 12 player of the year after winning being voted player and Defensive Player of the Year by league coaches. Kansas' Hunter Dickinson won Newcomer of the Year.
The Red Raiders (22-9, 11-7) open Big 12 Tournament play on Thursday at 11:30 a.m. in the T-Mobile Center at Kansas City, Missouri.
