Texas Tech basketball's Pop Isaacs playing against Texas despite sexual assault allegation

Embattled Texas Tech star guard Pop Isaacs is participating in pregame warmups and looks set to take the court against Texas despite being accused in a civil lawsuit of sexually assaulting a minor.

Isaacs "remains in good standing" at Texas Tech University and with its basketball team, according to a statement released by the school's athletics department Friday night.

On Friday, ESPN reported that Isaacs had been named in a civil lawsuit alleging that he sexually assaulted a minor in the Bahamas during the Battle 4 Atlantis tournament in November.

"Upon learning of the allegations, the matter was immediately and properly reported to the University's Title IX Office," the statement said. "The Title IX Office and its process are external to and independent from TTU Athletics. The Title IX Office's investigation into the allegations promptly commenced."

According to the ESPN report, a Texas Tech booster bought alcoholic drinks for Isaacs and a teammate during the trip. The athletes were in a room with two girls, ages 17 and 16, and Isaacs and the 17-year-old moved to a different room, where he is accused of assaulting the girl after she "attempted to fight him off," ESPN reported.
