Texas Tech basketball slips in latest NCAA Tournament bracketology

Fresh off a 29-point beatdown of No. 6 Kansas, it's time to take another look at the Texas Tech basketball team's latest NCAA Tournament projections.

Most of these projections were released prior to the 79-50 drubbing of the Jayhawks, so the Red Raiders didn't get much of a boost from that victory. Not yet, anyway.

The Red Raiders split last week's games, falling at Baylor and holding off UCF at home. Those contests make up the base of the latest projections.

LAST WEEK'S PROJECTIONS: Chris Beard vs. Texas Tech basketball? Latest NCAA Tournament projections say it's possible

ESPN: 7-seed (East Region)

Joe Lunardi held the Red Raiders steady as a No. 7 seed, though switched up the region and matchup from last Tuesday's bracket. He has Texas Tech in the Midwest Region and heading to Boston to take on 10-seed Boise State. Based on this projection, the winner of that game would get the winner of 2-seed North Carolina and 15-seed Colgate.

CBS Sports: 9-seed (Midwest Region)

Jerry Palm has regularly had the highest projected seed for Texas Tech, but not anymore. Palm dropped the Red Raiders down to a 9-seed in his Monday afternoon bracket. There, he has Tech taking on 8-seed Nevada in Indianapolis with top overall seed Purdue awaiting the winner (if the Boilermakers were to beat the 16-seed).

Fox Sports: 9-seed (Midwest Region)

Another 9-seed projection for the Red Raiders comes from Mike DeCourcy at Fox Sports. Like Lunardi and Palm, DeCourcy had Texas Tech as a 7-seed in last week's roundup. This projection shows the Red Raiders facing 8-seed Indiana State, once again in the same region as Purdue.

Field of 68: 8-seed (East Region)

Released on Monday afternoon, the Field of 68's updated bracket has Texas Tech as an 8-seed and facing 9-seed Florida. Connecticut is the top seed in this region.
