Brister, a 5-foot-6 right-handed utility player at Houston Clear Brook, ranked as the second-best utility prospect in the class and No. 34 in the class overall by Extra Inning Softball. White said she's a "versatile athlete who can play the middles or corner" for the Longhorns and can help fill the void left by the impending graduation of Alyssa Washington, who will leave the program after the 2024 season.

Salmon, a 5-foot-8 right-hander from Beaumont, Calif., is the fourth overall national prospect and the third-best pitcher in the nation by Extra Inning Softball. The two-time all-state player, who also plays for highly touted club team Athletics Mercado Smith 18U, boasts speed that approaches 70 miles per hour with a dynamic change-up, White said.

“We are excited with the signing of Cam," he said. "(She) has the experience and drive to be in the starting rotation immediately."

Texas had a small recruiting class because its 22-member program includes 11 underclassmen, including a now-sophomore class that led the team in batting average (.382, Ashton Maloney), home runs (11, Reese Atwood), RBIs (52, Viviana Martinez), total bases (112, Leighann Goode) and ERA (2.00, Citlaly Gutierrez) while helping Texas reach the NCAA super regionals.

Texas women's tennis signs Aussie youth star

Texas women's tennis team has signed Australian standout Charlotte Kempenaers-Pocz, head coach Howard Joffe announced Wednesday. Kempenaers-Pocz will enroll and join the program this January.

One of the top juniors players in the world with a career-high ranking of No. 35, Kempenaers-Pocz has also been ranked as high as No. 760 in singles and No. 447 in doubles by the WTA.

“Charlotte’s commitment is a major coup for our program,” Joffe said. “She is one of the top players for her age in the world and has the ability to play tennis at the highest level. This is evidenced by her track record of wins in both singles and doubles against players who are currently WTA touring professionals.

"I intend to work with Charlotte to get her game to the very top of college tennis and beyond. Our team is also incredibly excited for Charlottes arrival. She was a hit with our players during her official visit and will fit right in with our cohesive group. I’m so grateful to Charlotte and her family for the trust they have put in me and our program.”

Kempenaers-Pocz said she looked forward to embracing "the Texan spirit" by joining the Longhons' program.

“I chose Texas because I really love the girls on the team and the coaches, as well as Austin itself,” she said.
