One of the best traditions in college football continues to be Texas A&M's 12th Man, starting with former football player E. King Gill and expanded by head football coach Jackie Sherrill's 12th Man Kick-Off Team during his tenure in the 1980s.

A continued tradition through every coaching change, the Mike Elko era has more than embraced what the 12th Man represents, officially naming the 2024 representative on Monday afternoon.

Needing to embody pristine leadership qualities on and off the field, linebacker Nana Boadi-Owusu will now wear No. 12 for the entirety of the 2024 season. According to Elko, Owusu was one of four finalists for the honor during the offseason:

"It's a really important tradition here at Texas A&M. It took a lot of thought. There were four finalists, and we offered a vote to the team."

"Nana was named the new #12. It means a lot to him. You should have seen the smile on his face throughout practice."

Texas A&M will kick off the 2024 season vs. Notre Dame on Saturday, August 31.
