On Tuesday, the Texas Longhorns had no problem handling Texas State's pitching. The weather was a different story.

Texas opened its week by building a 9-1 lead over Texas State at San Marcos' Bobcat Ballpark. The non-conference game, however, was postponed in the top of the ninth inning by inclement weather.

Texas and Texas State will complete this game in Austin at 6 p.m. on Wednesday. The Longhorns and Bobcats were already scheduled to meet at UFCU Disch-Falk Field at 7 p.m., and that contest will be played as scheduled although its start may be delayed.

Of the nine runs scored by UT on Tuesday, seven were driven in with three swings. Texas took a lead that it wouldn't relinquish when Porter Brown hit a three-run homer in the second inning. Jared Thomas then drove in four runs with his homers in the seventh and eighth innings.

When the game was postponed, UT junior Chase Lummus was in line to be the winning pitcher. Lummus allowed one hit and two walks over a five-inning start.

If Texas (19-13) holds onto its eight-run lead, the Longhorns will even the season series with their nearby rivals. Texas State (16-16) rallied to an 11-10 victory over Texas at Houston's Minute Maid Park in March.
