On Friday, Texas receiver Xavier Worthy said he expected to run in the 4.2's. Though he measured in at only 5-foot-11 and 165 pounds, the Longhorns' leading receiver from 2023 ran a 4.25, the fastest among all players at the NFL Scouting Combine.

It was his second run that turned out to be the winner, though. With the sprint, he officially broke John Ross' record of 4.22 with a 4.21, placing himself alone at the top of the record books.

Only a few other NFL draft hopefuls ran in the 4.3s, with cornerback Nate Wiggins being the only other player currently who ran in the 4.2s at 4.29. In the history of the combine, only East Carolina RB Chris Johnson and Washington receiver John Ross have cracked 4.25.

It's not a guarantee he'll succeed at the next level, but his speed will be attractive to NFL teams.

At 6-foot-2 and 205 pounds, he also had the best broad jump among receivers at 11 feet, four inches and a 39.5 inch vertical. While Mitchell was already projected toward the back end of the draft's first round, his impressive workout numbers already have social media murmuring about how far he could climb.

Since 2015, only Seattle Seahawks receiver DK Metcalf has had a workout as impressive as Mitchell's.

Fellow Longhorns receiver Jordan Whittington was supposed to work out, but he's currently recovering from a tweaked hamstring that prevented him from going to the Senior Bowl.

The only Texas player left to work out is offensive lineman Christian Jones on Sunday.
