Texas football's Longhorn City Limits hosts Austin native Gary Clark Jr. before BYU game
Four-time Grammy winner and Austin native Gary Clark Jr. will be the next star to take the stage at Longhorn City Limits. The free concert on the LBJ lawn will take place before Texas football faces off with BYU on Saturday, Oct. 28 at 2:30 p.m. Clark will be taking the stage at 12:30 p.m., with a supporting artist to be announced later.
A frequenter of Austin City Limits and Blues on the Green, Clark has been melding blues, reggae, punk, R&B, hip-hop, and soul in Austin since 2002. In 2014, he won a Grammy for Best Traditional R&B Performance thanks to his song “Please Come Home" from his debut "Blak and Blu."
Most recently, Clark's album "This Land" earned him Best Rock Performance, Best Rock Song and Best Contemporary Blues Album at the 2020 Grammys. Overall, he has six nominations and four wins.
“When the Longhorn City Limits concept was born, Gary Clark Jr. was immediately an artist we identified as a perfect fit,” Vice President and Athletics Director Chris Del Conte said.
Before Texas faces BYU, they'll be visiting Houston this weekend in an attempt to bounce back from their tough loss to Oklahoma.
