Texas football prospects Christian Jones, T'Vondre Sweat impress in Senior Bowl drills
Texas football products Christian Jones and T'Vondre Sweat showed flashes of NFL potential during Senior Bowl drills that had scouts buzzing.
Jones didn't win all of his reps, but he did have quite a few impressive wins on Day 1 that had some analysts reevaluating their opinions of the offensive lineman.
"He certainly helped himself during the first day of practice in Mobile, showing plenty of strength against defensive linemen in one-on-one sessions," ESPN's Jordan Reid said. "While he's been projected as a late-Day 2 to early-Day 3 pick, Jones is trending toward third-round status."
Jones' best reps came against Texas Tech DL Jaylon Hutchings and Michigan DL Darius Robinson. He bullied Hutchings and had nimble feet against Robinson's quick release.

#Texas OT Christian Jones was a prospect that was included in my “potential risers” article from earlier this week. Thought he showed very well today. Measured at 6-5, 318 pounds with 34 7/8-inch arms. 61 career games played (48 starts). pic.twitter.com/fV6gox7wCx

T'Vondre Sweat also put on a clinic during drills, showing why he was named as the nation's best interior defensive lineman in 2023. He showed off his finesse by winning with a swim move against Texas A&M's Layden Robinson but also displayed his trademark strength, bowling over Arkansas Beaux Limmer.

Sweat is projected to go in either the first or second round of most mock drafts. He won the Outland Trophy this past season and was a key piece in Texas making the College Football Playoff as he and Byron Murphy II combined as the most disruptive interior duo in the nation.
Jones was the final remaining member of the 2018 class and the veteran of the locker room. He was one of the most improved players over the past two years and if his Senior Bowl tape shows anything, it's that he still has room to grow.
