Texas draft pick/UDFA central: Tracking former Longhorns through NFL training camp

Most of the teams around the NFL have begun training camp, with notes of burnt orange sprinkled throughout the rosters. A few Texas players — such as the Atlanta Falcons' Bijan Robinson — were taken early in the draft, but there were others who waited a while to hear their name called or signed with teams as undrafted free agents.

These players have no guarantee to make the roster, and their heels are dangling over the proverbial cliff. While they may not make it with their team, there's a decent chance that they could make the practice squad or be picked up by another team after being released. The final deadline for roster cuts is Aug. 29.

Here's the latest news on the UDFAs and draft picks that came out of Austin. It will be updated as news comes out.

Late picks/UDFAs

Moro Ojomo, DT, Philadelphia Eagles

Ojomo is far from a lock to make the Eagles' roster, as he was drafted in the seventh round at No. 249 overall. He's listed fourth on the Eagles' depth chart at defensive tackle behind Jalen Carter, the 10th overall pick this year, Jordan Davis (No. 13 overall in 2022) and five-year veteran Kentavius Street.

Players reported for training camp on Tuesday.

D'Shawn Jamison, DB, San Francisco 49ers

The 49ers' defense is an established top-tier unit with very few holes. Fortunately for Jamison, defensive back is the one position that's not incredibly stacked.

So far, Jamison has been impressing at camp. According to John Lynch, the undrafted rookie has been impressed on the outside but may earn some reps at nickel in coming practices.

Rookies reported to camp on July 18 while veterans reported on Tuesday.

Anthony Cook, DB, Kansas City Chiefs

According to Chiefs Wire, Cook faces an uphill battle to make the roster with Kansas City as he's listed fourth on the depth chart at free safety (Bryan Cook, Mike Edwards and Chamarri Conner are ahead). He'll need to stand out with his positional versatility and experience on special teams in order to have a shot at making it in the NFL.

The team reported to camp Sunday.

Recent news from the rest of the 2023 Texas draft class

Bijan Robinson, RB, Atlanta Falcons

Rookies reported to camp on July 18, while veterans reported Tuesday. Robinson, taken at No. 8 overall, is the Falcons' projected starter.

He's made waves so far with some impressive highlights, including this catch in traffic.

Roschon Johnson, RB, Chicago Bears

Players reported to camp Tuesday. Johnson was taken in the fourth round as the eighth running back drafted and entered camp third on the Bears' depth chart behind fellow Longhorn D'Onta Foreman and Khalil Herbert.

It was recently reported that Johnson is already doing reps with the second team at training camp, behind Herbert and ahead of Foreman. However, the Athletic recently noted that Johnson was out at practice.

DeMarvion Overshown, LB, Dallas Cowboys

Players reported to camp on Monday. He's opening camp No. 2 on the depth chart at strongside linebacker behind Jabril Cox. Fellow Longhorn Malik Jefferson, who is attempting to make the roster also is running No. 2 at weakside linebacker behind Leighton Vander Esch. Overshown was a third-round pick, 15 spots before the Bears took Johnson.

Lately, he's been earning praise for his hard play on the special teams side of the ball.
