Terrion Arnold, Kool-Aid McKinstry declare for NFL Draft
Alabama football will have two new starting cornerbacks in 2024.
Terrion Arnold and Kool-Aid McKinstry plan to declare for the 2024 NFL Draft. McKinstry announced his decision on social media in the week after the Rose Bowl. Meanwhile Arnold announced his decision Monday. Arnold and McKinstry both have a shot to be first-round picks.
Other Alabama players who have declared for the NFL Draft so far include Dallas Turner, Chris Braswell, Justin Eboigbe and JC Latham.
McKinstry figured to be a high-round draft pick even before the season and he had another strong year. But Arnold saw a rise in which he became a top cornerback this past season in only his second season playing the position. He tallied 63 tackles, 1 sack, 1 forced fumble and 5 interceptions. Arnold's efforts earned him a first-team All-American spot on the AP's team. He was also a second-team All-American on other teams.
Meanwhile, McKinstry was also named a first-team All-American by the AP and the Sporting News with several second-team All-American accolades. He finished the season with 32 tackles and seven passes defended. McKinstry was targeted about half as much as Arnold, per Pro Football Focus.
The departure of Arnold and McKinstry means Alabama will need to find two new starting cornerbacks. Trey Amos, who saw 340 snaps this season, figures to be a leader for one spot. Alabama is also bringing in cornerback Domani Jackson via the transfer portal. He played the past two seasons for USC. The Crimson Tide also has some young players available such as Dezz Ricks who will compete for playing time.
