Tennessee football vs Georgia final score: Vols fall in College Football Playoff chase

ATHENS, Ga. — Tennessee football had a wide-open path to the College Football Playoff and the SEC title game, but the Vols ran into Georgia.

Georgia pulled away in the second half for a 31-17 victory on Saturday.

The No. 7 Vols (8-2, 5-2 SEC) have now lost eight straight to No. 12 Georgia (8-2, 6-2) in the series.

The road crowd at Sanford Stadium was raucous.

The win pushes the Bulldogs back into the projected 12-team bracket and puts Tennessee’s playoff chances in jeopardy.
