Tennessee Titans DT Jeffery Simmons grabs first TD catch in loss to Jaguars

The Tennessee Titans turned to their best defensive player to help out their struggling offense.

Defensive tackle Jeffery Simmons caught a 2-yard touchdown from Will Levis in the fourth quarter of Sunday's game against the Jacksonville Jaguars at EverBank Stadium. It was Simmons' first career touchdown catch.

Simmons has been playing some offense in short yardage situations, including serving as the lead blocker on a fourth-down conversion by Derrick Henry earlier in Sunday's game.

It mattered little in the overall scope of the game, as the touchdown cut the Jaguars' lead to 34-14.

The Titans had to go deep into the playbook for their two touchdowns in an otherwise ugly performance at Jacksonville. They got on the board with the final play of the third quarter on a reverse flea-flicker where Henry began the play as a Wildcat quarterback before the ball ended up in Levis' hands; Levis tossed a 43-yard touchdown pass to DeAndre Hopkins.

The Titans managed just five first downs in their first five drives (not including a kneel-down to end the half).
