Get to know Bobby Slowik
Slowik has only one year of offensive coordinator experience, but he has made the most of it. He reinvigorated a Texans offense that was among the NFL's worst in 2022 to one that ranks No. 7 in passing yards per game and per play. Rookie quarterback C.J. Stroud blossomed into the presumed Offensive Rookie of the Year under Slowik's tutelage, posting a 100.8 passer rating and 23 touchdowns with just five interceptions. Only San Francisco 49ers quarterback Brock Purdy and Miami Dolphins quarterback Tua Tagovailoa averaged more yards per pass attempt this season.
Slowik and Stroud combined to lead the Texans to a playoff victory this season after the team had the second-worst record in the NFL in 2022.
Prior to arriving in Houston, Slowik had been in San Francisco since 2017. He spent his first two years as a defensive assistant before moving over to work on the offensive staff. By 2022, he took over as the 49ers' passing game coordinator, where he helped shepherd Purdy's transition to the starting role.
Slowik comes from a coaching family. His father, Bob, coached in the NFL from 1992 to 2013, working stints as defensive coordinator with the Chicago Bears, Cleveland Browns, Green Bay Packers and Denver Broncos.
