Team USA punches ticket to Olympic semifinals with win vs. Brazil, Steph Curry scores 7 points
Team USA's undefeated run at the Olympics will continue riding to the semifinals after a dominant victory over Brazil in the quarterfinals of the medal round on Tuesday in Paris.
Six members of Team USA tallied double-figure scoring efforts against Brazil as Team USA cruised to a 122-97 victory in the quarterfinals. Devin Booker led the Americans with 18 points on 6-of-9 shooting from the field with five made 3-pointers. Booker added three boards and three assists in 15 minutes.
With 11 points off the bench on Tuesday, Kevin Durant became Team USA's all-time leading scorer, passing Lisa Leslie's 488 career Olympic points. Seeking his fourth gold medal, Durant now has 494 career points in the Olympics with potentially two more games on the schedule in Paris.
Stephen Curry had another quiet performance in the Olympics, scoring seven points on 2-of-3 shooting from the field in 17 minutes against Brazil. Curry has only scored over 10 points in one contest so far in the Olympics, tallying 11 points against Serbia in his Olympic debut.
Curry's Golden State teammate, Gui Santos, notched seven points on 3-of-8 shooting from the field to go along with five rebounds and two assists in 20 minutes.
With another win in the quarterfinals, Team USA punched their ticket to the semifinals for a rematch with Nikola Jokic and Serbia. Thursday's semifinal game will mark the third contest between Serbia and the United States in the last month. Before playing against Serbia in the opening game of the group stage, Team USA met Jokic and Serbia in their pre-Olympic showcase series. The Americans won both games.
