For the second year in a row the New Orleans Saints have increased the amount of captains on their roster. They went from six to seven in 2023 and have now jumped to eight captains ahead of the season opener with the Carolina Panthers, per NewOrleans.Football's Mike Triplett.

The Saints overhauled their leadership team in a major way in 2023. Derek Carr, Tyrann Mathieu, Erik McCoy and Zach Wood were all first-time captains for the first time in New Orleans. This year, Taysom Hill is the only new face among the bunch.

Captains are voted on by the players. The addition of Hill gives the Saints three captains on both offense and defense. The Saints have two additional special teams players to round out the eight-man list:

Defense: Cameron Jordan (captain since 2015)
