Tar Heels DB Ja’Qurious Conley enters transfer portal
The North Carolina Tar Heels football program is losing another player to the transfer portal. On Monday, defensive back Ja’Qurious Conley became the latest player to enter the portal.
Conley made his decision a week after UNC’s spring game and when the portal opened. He’s now the fifth player to enter the portal, all being on the defensive side of the ball. Of those five, three have come in the secondary as he joins safety Don Chapman and defensive back Dae Dae Hollins.
UNC also lost Storm Duck and Tony Grimes after the 2022 season to the portal. This is another move that depletes UNC’s secondary, a unit that struggled last season under Gene Chizik.

In three seasons, Conley played in 23 games and started in 11 of those as he became an impact player when he was on the field. But he did suffer a knee injury in November of 2021 that set him back a little bit in his career.
