Taj Gibson beats halftime buzzer with 60-foot Shot of the Year contender
We knew the Oklahoma City Thunder had picked up a long-range shooter from the Chicago Bulls in their deal at last Thursday’s trade deadline. As it turns out, though, it wasn’t Doug McDermott.

With 2.8 seconds left in the second quarter of Oklahoma City’s Thursday night matchup with the Portland Trail Blazers, the score was tied at 57 and Portland had one last chance to take a lead into intermission. Terry Stotts called on swingman Pat Connaughton, formerly a hard-throwing pitcher at Notre Dame who was drafted by the Baltimore Orioles in 2014, to fire a length-of-the-court pass for a last-gasp try. Instead, it was Taj Gibson who’d leave the Moda Center fans gasping:
