Super Bowl betting: All the first TD scorers for the Rams and Bengals this season

As exciting as the Apollo 11 mission was, it would have been even better if you could have put money down on which astronaut would be the first to walk on the moon. This Sunday, a Rams or Bengals player will take one small step for his team and one giant leap for the betting public when he scores the first touchdown of Super Bowl LVI. First touchdown scorer is a popular prop in every NFL game, but especially so in the championship tilt. Before you place your wager at BetMGM, let's take a look at all the players who have scored their team's first touchdown for both the Rams and Bengals this season.

[When betting on first touchdown scorers, you can wager on the game's first touchdown scorer or a specific team's first touchdown scorer. The odds posted next to each player are their odds to score the game's first touchdown.]

LOS ANGELES RAMS

Fifteen of the 20 first touchdowns for the Rams have been notched by pass-catchers. Sean McVay's squad has scored the game's first touchdown in 12 of their 20 contests this season, including seven of their last nine and each of their last four.

Cooper Kupp (+550), 4 first touchdowns

If target shares were stocks, Kupp would be close to owning the Rams. The 2021 leader in receiving yardage, receiving touchdowns, targets, and receptions saw a 31.7% target share from Matthew Stafford this year. Kupp also led the NFL in red-zone targets and receptions and has scored the Rams' first touchdown in three of their last seven games.

Van Jefferson (+1600), 4 first touchdowns

Jefferson has been the first Rams player to find the end zone just once since Odell Beckham Jr. joined the team in November and only caught four of his 18 red-zone targets in the regular season.

Sony Michel (+1200), 3 first touchdowns

The Rams running back has been out-touched by Cam Akers 59-27 in the playoffs, despite Akers averaging a sluggish 2.8 yards per carry.

Tyler Higbee (+1600), 3 first touchdowns

Higbee sprained his MCL in the NFC championship game and hasn't been able to practice.

Odell Beckham Jr. (+1000), 2 first touchdowns

If we can get Odell Beckham Sr. to lobby the Rams on social media, this bet is a lock.

Darrell Henderson Jr. (N/A), 2 first touchdowns

Robert Woods (N/A), 1 first touchdown

Both of these players are on injured reserve.

Kendall Blanton (+1600), 1 first touchdown

The casual football fan may not be familiar with Blanton, but the San Francisco 49ers certainly are. After Higbee was knocked out of the NFC title game, the Rams fed their backup tight end five targets, including a flea-flicker screen that went for 20 yards. More than 17% of Stafford's red zone targets this season went to the tight end position. If Higbee misses Sunday's game, Blanton could be a value dart throw.

CINCINNATI BENGALS

For the majority of the season, Cincinnati has gotten out of the gates like a sick horse with an oversized jockey. The Bengals have scored the game's first touchdown in just seven of their 20 games this year and only once in their last nine.

Joe Mixon (+750), 5 first touchdowns

Cincinnati's workhorse running back is the team's odds-on favorite to score the game's first touchdown. Mixon had the third-most rushing yards in the NFL this season and the fourth-most rushing touchdowns.

Ja'Marr Chase (+900), 3 first touchdowns

All three of Chase's first scores for the Bengals came after the opposing team found paydirt. Chase is a generational talent, but he'll be matched up against lockdown corner Jalen Ramsey. The Rams allowed the third-fewest receiving touchdowns to wideouts this year.

C.J. Uzomah (+1800), 3 first touchdowns

Like Higbee, Uzomah was knocked out of his conference championship game with a sprained MCL. The tight end stated, "I'm not missing the biggest game of my life." Los Angeles gave up the sixth-fewest receiving touchdowns to tight ends in 2021.

Tee Higgins (+1200), 2 first touchdowns

Between all the Joe Burrow and Chase hype, it can be easy to forget how sensational a talent Higgins is. He's posted 95-plus receiving yards in six of his last nine games, led Cincy in red zone targets this year, and will be the beneficiary of Chase being shadowed by Ramsey. I'm not betting any Bengal to score the game's first touchdown, but Higgins at +650 to score Cincinnati's first touchdown is a decent wager.

Tyler Boyd (+1600), 2 first touchdowns

Boyd has been around longer than the other wideouts, but the Bengals' middle-of-the-field receiver suffers from middle-child syndrome. He's gotten half of the red zone targets that Chase and Higgins have each seen. If Uzomah were to miss this game, though, we could see Boyd eat up even more of the space in between the hash marks.

Samaje Perine (+6600), 2 first touchdowns

With the Bengals trailing the Chiefs 21-3 in the AFC title game and just over a minute left in the first half, Perine took a screen pass 41 yards to the house. Mixon's backup has logged three touchdowns this season, and two of them were initial scores for Cincy. Could lightning strike thrice?

Chris Evans (+6600), 1 first touchdown

Evans saw 32 touches in the regular season and two in the playoffs. As fun as it would be to see Twitter explode with Captain America GIFs, it's about as unlikely to happen as Matthew Berry getting his own Avengers spin-off.

Joe Burrow (+4000), 1 first touchdown

Burrow had nearly as many rushing attempts in 10 games last season as he does in 20 games this year. Following a Week 5 overtime loss to the Packers in which Burrow was leveled on a 3rd-and-12 scramble, Aaron Rodgers advised Burrow to slide more. That's good advice for the regular season, but there's no question that the second-year QB will do whatever it takes to score on Sunday. Four different quarterbacks rushed for a touchdown against the Rams in 2021.

Bengals D/ST (+3000), 1 first touchdown

The Bengals' defense and special teams only scored two touchdowns this year, but they may win the lottery playing the Rams' pick-six machine. Stafford leads all active quarterbacks with 27 career interceptions returned for touchdowns. Four of those occurred this season.
