Studs and duds from Saints' Week 7 loss to Broncos

.
.

The New Orleans Saints are up to five straight losses, as they were taken down 33-10 by the Denver Broncos at home. Throughout this game, the Saints struggled to gain any traction on either side of the ball, and now they fall to 2-5 heading on the road next week to Los Angeles for a matchup with the Chargers. While the game was extremely ugly, a few players stuck out with positive plays despite the bad overall performance.

Stud: Matthew Hayball

Matthew Hayball continues his strong season, and it's not like he isn't being used. Hayball set up for 6 punts against the Broncos. He placed half of his attempts inside the 20 yard line. It's in losing efforts, but he's been a standout player in an ugly situation.

Dud: Dennis Allen

This has been the case for awhile now, but we are beginning to see players become visibly upset with Dennis Allen and be unwilling to play for him. The defense he was hired for in the first place is significantly worse than when he was just a defensive coordinator, with the run defense being gashed for multiple weeks in a row now. It is time for him to be fired, and has been for weeks, the Saints need a spark of life for the future and Allen is not it.

Stud: Kendre Miller

Kendre Miller showed juice in his first game of the season. There's a reason he stayed around despite the injury history. Miller showed an explosiveness the Saints don't have at the running back position. There just wasn't that much room to work.

Dud: Interior run defense

The whole team struggled tonight so it's hard to pinpoint specific problematic points, but the interior run defense was most certainly one. The defense gave up 225 rushing yards on 35 attempts (6.4 yards per carry) and every opposing running back that played had a rush of 13 yards or more, as well as Bo Nix. It has been an issue for a few weeks now, but especially the last few games.

Stud: Jermaine Jackson

Jackson filled in for the injured Rashid Shaheed. He looked good returning kickoffs. Jackson averaged 25 yards per return with a long of 32 yards. It was a bad day at the office, and he was a slightly bright spot.

Dud: Offensive line

Last week we gave the benefit of the doubt to the tackles as they played at least decently, but this week the entire offensive line was crumbling. Spencer Rattler ended up being sacked six times for 36 yards and gave up two fumbles as well due to the pressure. Additionally, I would not be surprised if he was pressured on 80% of plays, almost every drop back he had ended up being him rolling out or trying to find a gap to create a throw. It's hard to assess his play when the offensive line is giving him nothing, but Jake Haener was able to create a bit at the end due to his ability to get the ball out very quickly.
