The Alliance of American Football may be no more, but that doesn’t mean Steve Spurrier is down in the dumps about it.

Even upon the dissolution of his Orlando Apollos when the AAF suspended operations Tuesday, the former Florida and South Carolina coach remained on his ever-trolling brand, claiming the league championship by touting his team’s 7-1 record.

“We’ve gotta be the champs, right?” Spurrier quipped. “We’re 7-1, and the next teams are 5-3.”

FanDuel sides with Spurrier

FanDuel’s sportsbook agreed with Spurrier, announcing on Wednesday that all futures bets on the Apollos will be paid out.

The Westgate Las Vegas SuperBook took a different tact, telling The Action Network that it will refund all AAF futures bets rather than pay out a winner for a championship that didn’t happen once the league officially folds. Draft Kings, meanwhile, doesn’t yet know what it’s going to do, according to The Action Network.

Too much tequila for Neuheisel?

While FanDuel sided with Spurrier, former Arizona Hotshots head coach Rick Neuheisel did not. Neusheisel countered Spurrier’s claim by pointing out that his 5-3 Hotshots were the only team to defeat Spurrier’s Apollos and are, therefore, the AAF champions.

Spurrier responded with a rhyme about Neuheisel appearing to be drunk.

So yeah. The Old Ball Coach doesn’t have his coaching job any more.

But he’s still got it.
