Steve Kerr praises Andrew Wiggins recent resurgence

Andrew Wiggins is emerging from his slump. In recent weeks the Golden State Warriors wing is proving he’s still capable of being a core member of a contending team. Wiggins is also showing that he can co-exist in a lineup that also boasts Jonathan Kuminga, despite it looking unlikely earlier in the season.

Notably, Wiggins’ re-emergence has coincided with the Warrior’s best basketball of the season. The front-court trio of Draymond Green, Wiggins, and Kuminga have been instrumental in Steve Kerr’s team looking capable of turning their season around. As such, it’s no surprise that Kerr took some time to praise Wiggins following the Warriors win over the Los Angeles Lakers on Thursday (Feb. 22.)

“He just looks more comfortable,” Kerr said. “He’s attacking the rim more. And I think the way we’re playing and the lineup that he starts the game with, gives him more space to attack. He’s looked really good for a while. Physically, I just think he looks much better than he did earlier in the season. The way that our team has evolved and the way we’re playing kind of feeds into everything that he does well. He’s playing at a high level. Playing unselfishly, making the simple play. I love how Wiggs is playing right now.”

If Wiggins can continue to perform at his current level, he will undoubtedly have a significant on the Warriors chances of success throughout the remainder of the season and into the playoffs, just as he did during the 2022 championship run.

The Warriors plan to avoid the play-in tournament by making a run toward the top-six of the Western Conference. They will need Wiggins to continue making an impact if that goal is to become a reality.
