Steelers vs Falcons: Tale of the tape on offense
We are just a day away from the Pittsburgh Steelers kicking off the season against the Atlanta Falcons. The Steelers and Falcons both went to great lengths to make over their rosters in an attempt to get over the hump and take the next step in their respective divisions. Let's go position by position and see which team has the edge at each offensive positional unit.
Quarterback
Kirk Cousins and Russell Wilson are both aging veterans but it's clear Cousins is playing much better football at this stage of his career.
EDGE: Falcons
Running back
As much as we love the combo of Najee Harris and Jaylen Warren, Falcons running back Bijan Robinson is one of the best all-around backs in the league and we give him the edge here.
EDGE: Falcons
Wide receiver
This one really comes down to whether you go with Steelers wide receiver George Pickens or Atlanta's Drake London. Neither guy has an impressive cast around them. London is a solid player but Pickens has the potential to be truly special.
EDGE: Steelers
Tight end
You'll have to forgive us but we don't believe in Atlanta tight end Kyle Pitts as a premier pass catcher. Steelers tight end Pat Freiermuth just got a huge new deal and has a better all-around game. The Steelers group is also deeper with Darnell Washington and Connor Heyward.
EDGE: Steelers
Offensive tackle
The Falcons have an excellent tandem of offensive tackles in Jake Matthews and Kaleb McGary. They are a much more confident tandem than Dan Moore Jr. and Broderick Jones.
EDGE: Falcons
Interior offensive line
The Falcons have one of the best interior offensive lines in the league. Drew Dalman at center and Chris Lindstrom are both excellent young players. It would be closer if Isaac Seumalo wasn't hurt for the Steelers but this one is pretty one-sided.
