Steelers sign 7 players to practice squad
The Pittsburgh Steelers officially began constructing their 2024 practice squad with the addition of seven players on Friday.
Steelers add 7 to practice squad, including two wide receivers: former Broncos WR Brandon Johnson and former Rams WR Ben Skowronek. OL John Leglue returns to organization, and Steelers add Doug Nester of WVU; Others are RB Boston Scott, LBs Devin Harper and Adetokunbo Ogundeji.

1. WR Brandon Johnson
As a former teammate of Russell Wilson, Brandon Johnson caught 44 passes for 610 yards and nine touchdowns. Johnson signed with the Denver Broncos as an undrafted free agent following the 2022 NFL draft. He spent time between the practice squad and active roster for two seasons, appearing in 33 games (three starts).
2. WR Ben Skowronek
Ben Skowronek appeared in 45 games (12 starts) for the Los Angeles Rams, the team that drafted him in the seventh round of the 2021 NFL draft. While with L.A., Skowronek logged 575 yards on 58 receptions. He was traded to the Houston Texans in the 2024 offseason.
3. RB Boston Scott
Boston Scott was a sixth-round pick of the New Orleans Saints in 2018, where he spent time on their practice squad before the Philadelphia Eagles signed him to its active roster. Scott was with the Eagles from 2018 to 2023, playing in 75 games (12 starts). He had 302 carries for 1,295 yards and 16 touchdowns, as well as 71 receptions for 566 yards and a touchdown. Scott signed with the L.A. rams during the 2023 offseason.
4. OL John Leglue
John Leglue entered the NFL as an undrafted free agent in 2019 and spent time with the Denver Broncos, New Orleans Saints, Green Bay Packers and Tennessee Titans. Leglue signed to the Steelers practice squad in 2020 where he spent two seasons. In 2021, he appeared in six games at left guard. He spent the 2023 season with the Atlanta Falcons where he appeared in one game.
5. OL Doug Nester
Doug Nester was signed as an undrafted free agent by the Minnesota Vikings following the 2024 NFL draft. At West Virginia, Nester played appeared in 57 games (52 starts). In 2023, he played in 12 games (11 starts) and did not allow a sack in 660 snaps.
6. LB Devin Harper
Devin Harper played in three games for the Dallas Cowboys (selected him in the sixth round in 2022) before being placed on injured reserve. He appeared in three more games for Dallas in 2023 before being claimed off waivers by the Cincinnati Bengals, where he played six games.
In 12 games, Harper logged five tackles.
7. LB Adetokunbo Ogundeji
Adetokunbo Ogundeji played in 16 games (11 starts) after being selected by the Atlanta Falcons in the fifth round of the 2021 NFL draft. He wrapped his rookie campaign with 33 tackles, a sack, a pass defensed and a fumble recovery. In 2022, Ogundeji started 16 games, finishing with 42 tackles and one sack. He missed the 2023 season with a foot injury.
