Steelers to interview Chargers assistant Tom Arth

According to NFL report Aaron Wilson, the Steelers are interviewing Los Angeles Chargers assistant coach Tom Arth, for what he terms a “passing game position.” We aren’t sure if this means the Steelers want Arth to be the quarterbacks coach and then move on from Mike Sullivan or if they are planning to finally add a passing game coordinator to the staff.

Arth spent four seasons in the NFL as a backup. His only two seasons as an NFL coach were the last two as the Chargers passing game specialist.

The Steelers hired Arthur Smith to be the team’s new offensive coordinator and since then have been busy in shuffling around coaching positions.

Arth has spent the last two seasons helping with the passing game of the Chargers and help develop Justin Herbert into one of the best young quarterbacks in the NFL. Head coach Mike Tomlin noted he wanted to get better play from the quarterback position and adding Arth would be a step in the right direction.
