Steelers 2024 free agency: P Cameron Johnston agrees to terms

When the Pittsburgh Steelers released Pressley Harvin III last month, a void remained at a significant position that we all hoped they wouldn’t use a draft pick on. It appears now that they won’t have to after agreeing to terms with former Houston Texans and Philadelphia Eagles punter Cameron Johnston.

After striking a deal with quarterback Russell Wilson Sunday night, grabbing a punter is underwhelming, but something that needed to happen.

Johnston, 32, was the NFL punting leader in 2021. Last season, he averaged 47.7 yards to Harvin’s 43.8 per punt. He landed 45.5% of his punts inside the 20-yard line with three touchbacks (Harvin: 38.5%, six touchbacks).

For his career, Johnston landed 182 punts inside the 20-yard line, 40.9% inside the 20 and a punt-yard average of 21,019.
