Starting 5: Ex-Kentucky basketball coach Tubby Smith set for SEC Legends induction, more
Former Kentucky basketball coach Tubby Smith is scheduled to be inducted into the 2024 class of SEC Legends during the SEC Tournament in Nashville, Tennessee.
Smith, a UK Hall of Famer who led the Wildcats to a national championship in 1998, will be honored along with representatives of the 13 other SEC schools.
Smith will be recognized during halftime of Kentucky's first tournament game at Bridgestone Arena. The SEC Legends will be introduced at halftime of the first semifinal.
In 10 seasons with UK, Smith went 263-83. He won five SEC regular-season titles and five SEC Tournament crowns. Smith also won National Coach of the Year three times and was SEC Coach of the Year three times.
Around the city: Marc Clark returns to Male football as OC
Marc Clark is returning to Male High School football as its offensive coordinator, coach Chris Wolfe announced. Clark previously served as head coach at Hopkinsville (2011-16, 2022-24) and McCracken County (2016-2022). Last season, the Tigers went 1-9. The Bulldogs went 11-2 last season and lost, 21-20, to Frederick Douglass in the third round of the KHSAA 6A playoffs.

Around the state: Western Kentucky honors NCAA Tournament legend
Western Kentucky honored Ty Rogers during its 90-84 loss to Louisiana Tech on Feb. 28 for his future induction into the KHSAA Hall of Fame. Rogers scored 3,300 points during his high school career, still good for 10th in state history. After graduating with the most 3-pointers in a career, he stands fifth all time. Many will remember Rogers for his buzzer-beater that gave WKU a 101-99 first-round upset over fifth-seeded Drake in the 2008 NCAA Tournament.

High school recruiting: Oldham County football RB signs with Union College
Oldham County senior running back Caden Sheppard signed his national letter of intent to play football at Union College. Sheppard ran for 1,031 yards and scored nine touchdowns. He also caught five passes for 41 yards and one TD. The Colonels went 3-8 last season.

Bellarmine baseball is set to host Western Kentucky at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday. The Knights are scheduled to visit Marshall at 6 p.m. Wednesday. Bellarmine also is set to host Southern Indiana for a three-game series beginning at 2:30 p.m. Friday.
Bellarmine softball is scheduled to visit Kentucky at 5 p.m. Wednesday. The Knights are set to host Evansville for their home opener at 3:30 p.m. Friday. The Knights then are scheduled to host St. Bonaventure at 10:30 a.m. Saturday and Evansville at 3:30 p.m. Saturday. Bellarmine is set to host Evansville at noon March 10.
Louisville softball is scheduled to host Arizona at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday before hosting Virginia Tech in a three-game ACC series beginning at 6 p.m. Friday.
Louisville rowing has spring training beginning Saturday in Oak Ridge, Tennessee.
Louisville track and field will be in Boston for the NCAA Indoor Championships on Saturday.
