Spurs F Keldon Johnson agrees to 4-year, $80 million extension

The San Antonio Spurs traded away their top player this offseason, but they're also locking down last season's breakout player.

Spurs forward Keldon Johnson has agreed to a four-year, $80 million contract extension, his agents at Klutch Sports announced Friday night.

Johnson is coming off a career season in which he averaged 17.0 points, 6.1 rebounds and 2.1 assists per game while shooting .466 from the field and .398 from deep.

The Spurs drafted Johnson 29th overall in the 2019 NBA draft and have since watched him develop into the kind of 3-point shooting wing any team would be happy to have. At 22 years old, he still has plenty of time to develop as well.

He'll get as much time as he wants for the foreseeable future, as the Spurs are rolling into next season in a clear rebuilding mode after trading All-Star Dejounte Murray to the Atlanta Hawks.
