Spencer Rattler catches eyes at Day 4 of New Orleans Saints training camp

The battle for the New Orleans Saints backup quarterback spot comes down to Jake Haener versus Spencer Rattler. Rattler is the fan-favorite because of his upside. It's important to remember once upon of time, the rookie was in number one overall pick conversations. It feels like a long time ago, but that speaks to the ceiling he possesses.

At Saturday's practice, Rattler put together what some have called his best practice to date. Multiple reporters highlighted his throw to wide receiver Mason Tipton the play of the day. If this is a sign of things to come for the rookie, it would go a long way to winning his competition with Haener.

You want to see a good race for the backup position. The Saints have had good backup quarterbacks in recent years. While you don't want to see them, it is a calming feeling when you trust them to come in in a pinch.
