South Carolina coach Dawn Staley wears 'Boo' sweatshirt against Vanderbilt after LSU comment
COLUMBIA — South Carolina women's basketball coach Dawn Staley brought her humor into her outfit for Sunday's game against Vanderbilt.
Staley wore a black sweatshirt that read "BOO" in white letters, leaning in to her joke from Thursday's big win over LSU.
After winning in a hostile environment against the No. 9 Tigers, a reporter asked Staley about the crowd, noting it wasn't very friendly toward her. The sold-out Pete Maravich Assembly Center brought the passion in the rivalry game.
Staley quickly cracked a joke that she didn't agree that the crowd wasn't friendly.
"Actually they were. They were calling me 'Boo,' " Staley said with a chuckle, drawing laughter from the room of reporters.
Though the crowd in South Carolina's 76-70 win at LSU wasn't friendly, the Gamecocks returned to Colonial Life Arena to play Vanderbilt in front of a crowd cheering for them.
This sold-out crowd leaned into Staley's comment as well. One fan brought a sign that read: "Hey Boo."
