Son Heung-min and Juan Foyth both shown straight red cards as Spurs lose 1-0 to Bournemouth
Tottenham Hotspur needed a win against Bournemouth if it wanted to compete in the Champions League next season. Unfortunately for the club, it lost 1-0 on a late winner by Nathan Aké in stoppage time.
Even worse, the Londoners played the entire second half with just nine men on the pitch. Both Son Heung-min and Juan Foyth received straight reds on Saturday, putting the team’s chances at a top-four finish in the Premier League in jeopardy.

With minutes to go before halftime, the South Korean striker reacted after a challenge and pushed Bournemouth’s Jefferson Irma directly in front of referee Craig Pawson.
It marked Son’s first red in a Spurs kit, and the second of his career. The 26-year-old received his first in 2014 as a player for Bayer Leverkusen. Similar to Saturday’s incident, it was also a straight red.
Mauricio Pochettino’s men sauntered off into the dressing room level at 0-0 wondering how they would take a vital lead against Eddie Howe’s side. Little did Tottenham know, its problems would worsen.
One minute into the second half, substitute Foyth made a dangerous challenge on Jack Simpson to leave his club with nine men left to play. The Argentinian had been on the pitch for only 120 seconds.
Naturally, Twitter had a field day with the unexpected Spurs meltdown.

Not going to lie, I'm only watching the rest of this game to see where Sky put another red line when Spurs get another player sent off. Under it, above it or under the clock? So exciting! #BOUTOT pic.twitter.com/HyjjTE1Dh9

Juan Foyth came in and got a red card two minutes later. Man wanted to spend his Saturday laying in bed and did his best to get back to that dream. I respect it.

The loss keeps Tottenham stuck on 70 points with Chelsea sitting at 68 and Arsenal at 66. Both of the latter teams are in action on Sunday.
Tottenham returns to Champions League action Wednesday night when it faces Ajax in the second leg of the tournament’s semifinal. Ajax won the first leg 1-0.
