‘Something every offensive player can feel’: Hawkeyes dominate Badgers on the ground

In a Big Ten rivalry defined by physicality, the Hawkeyes pushed the Badgers around the field for 60 minutes at Kinnick Stadium. Iowa’s offensive line controlled the game, moving the ball for 329 yards on the ground.

Kaleb Johnson furthered his case for Doak Walker and Heisman consideration. He tied Shonn Greene for the school record with his 20th overall touchdown.

Iowa’s defense dominated, allowing just 10 points and forcing turnovers that led to touchdowns. The Hawkeyes now become bowl-eligible, and for the first time ever they own the Heartland Trophy for the third year in a row.

Those who expected a close, competitive November football game came to saw a rare blowout in this series. Even Kirk Ferentz was surprised.

“It’s an interesting year in our conference, and I didn’t see this thing coming tonight,” Ferentz said. “Sometimes that just happens where things start clicking; give our guys credit because they came ready to go.”

“That’s something every offensive player can feel,” Brendan Sullivan said of Iowa’s physicality. “When the defense knows what you’re going to do and you still do it to a high level, it’s really cool and it definitely gives the whole offensive unit and the whole sideline a huge momentum boost.”

“That’s the expectation,” Jacob Gill said. “We want to go out there and execute and when we execute comes points.”

Up next for the Hawkeyes is a trip out west to face UCLA on Friday night.
